Board Game: Board Design
I worked on a board game for Theory and Design of Games class. We used cards as enemies, items, etc. I designed the prototype board. Since it was a prototype, I focused less on aesthetics and more on functionality. The board was designed to fit the cards and have room for the "Boss Arena" areas where the player places their piece to fight a boss card. Each boss door had their own unique set of boss cards to draw from, and the way to win is to get to the top of the board, which we envisioned as a winding mountain.
The players take turns rolling one dice to see how far they would move, and would get to draw an item or equipment card based on what the defeat monster rewards.
The landslide spaced ended up being a very fun mechanic where the play-testers had a few disappointing moments of going back to start, yet never gave up.
